For first-year Mechanical Engineering students, a lot was at stake on Wednesday, June 10. After months of hard work, they were ready: around 700 students, divided over 112 teams with their ‘mechanical boulderer’ at the starting line. Which revolutionary machine will reach the top first?

The Rotterdam university magazine Erasmus Magazine has won two ‘Kring Awards’, for an ‘excellent piece of education journalism’ and a column with ‘fine observations’. Delta columnist Sander Otte was awarded with the third prize.
"TU Delft is a somewhat more conservative university, and we need to keep drawing attention to the fact that everyone should be able to be themselves. Pride is a protest. We can see that a lot of things are going well, but we can also clearly see that there is still a lot of room for improvement."
Het is de taak, zo niet de plicht, van de universiteit en de journalistiek om verschillende opvattingen aan het woord te laten, vindt Dap Hartmann. Tot zijn afgrijzen gebeurt dat steeds minder. Hoe saai is een krant waarin iedereen het met elkaar eens is?
Onder het motto ‘Delft pakt door’ gaan Pro, D66 en STIP de komende jaren de stad besturen. Het coalitieakkoord borduurt voort op bestaand beleid. Wel valt een actieplan op met 20 miljoen euro voor meer betaalbare woningen, al bemoeilijken zaken als netcongestie en ruimtegebrek de uitvoering.

Under the motto ‘Delft gets moving’, Pro, D66 and STIP will govern the city in the coming years. The coalition agreement builds on existing policy. Notable is an action plan with EUR 20 million for affordable housing, although issues like grid congestion and limited space complicate implementation.
"De TU Delft is toch een wat conservatievere universiteit en het is nodig om er aandacht voor te blijven vragen dat iedereen kan zijn wie die is. Pride is een protest. We zien dat een hoop dingen goed gaan, maar we zien ook echt dat er nog een hoop dingen verbeterd moeten worden."
Voor eerstejaars studenten Werktuigbouwkunde stond er veel op het spel, woensdag 10 juni. Na maanden zwoegen stonden ze klaar: zo’n 700 studenten, verdeeld over 112 teams, met hun ‘mechanische boulderaar’ in de startblokken. Welke revolutionaire machine bereikt als eerst de top?
