Paul Schütze (@paulschuetze.bsky.social) and Michael Latzer have just published a paper characterising the "Transhumanist Anthropocene".
What happens when Transhumanism collides with the Anthropocene? What versions of the future might this leave us with?

🌍 The Anthropocene is changing!
New paper where we introduce the "Transhumanist Anthropocene”. Human action is now turning not just to Earth's systems, but to the biological and cognitive constitution of the human itself.
More to come in the next days. To the paper 👇

The Anthropocene has always been about what humans do to Earth.
Now this is different:
The direction of human action and the effects on human inhabitants are changing. Human action is turning toward human biology and cognition.

"AI harm is not accidental but systemic and extractive. We call for rejecting AI inevitability and advancing community-led responses that disrupt algorithmic settler colonialism and reimagine intelligence beyond domination,” write Bronwyn Carlson and Tamika Worrell.
Degrowth and ecocentrism are becoming structurally unimaginable.
The Transhumanist Anthropocene locks the imagination onto technological solutions or eventually leaving the planet. This reflects the institutional grip of venture capital, big tech, and AI.
