If you look at production, things really didn’t slow down that much and some products, like jet fuel have really increased lately. This is why I linked to both the data on where oil was imported from and also the data showing the production of different products. So always read down thread
Laughing at myself for putting “always read down thread” at the end of a thread
a very, very important story about a very REAL water problem with data centers: people putting them in places where residents *already don’t have much water*
I think some people misunderstood me on this. I know that California needs foreign oil for its refineries, but that less than 30% of what they imported in 2025 was actually from the ME which is down from previous years.
If you wonder why the US imports foreign oil at all, see below. It is not as simple as only refining what we produce. There’s probably some oil industry people who could explain it better than me though.
It’s also funny that he brings up the number of oil refineries in Texas and California but neglects to mention his state (North Dakota) only has 2
California?? With all its oil wells?? And oil refining capacity?? Is dependent on oil from the Strait of Hormuz??
And because I can’t let things go, here’s where you can find the actual percentages of where foreign oil imported into California comes from www.energy.ca.gov/data-reports...
And conveniently California lets you keep track of crude oil production and refining here and well… you can see he’s full of shit
