A memo filed Wednesday by Minnesota’s U.S. Attorney’s Office suggests the decision not to seek a death sentence against Boelter was made “in accordance with the terms delineated in a proposed plea agreement.”
Boelter had previously pleaded not guilty in last year’s fatal shooting of Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, and an armed attack on another lawmaker and his family. He’s set to appear in court Thursday morning.
