A lot of really useful information is contained in badly written/badly edited book and articles. I'm not sure how research into useful subjects could take place if you restricted yourself only to "good" books.
example: sex acts are not gendered but many act as if they are.

'you're not a real woman if you don't want to be with men' just makes me see red. It's not the only reason I took until 32 to transition, but it sure did a lot to make me think that no one would ever believe me.
I stumbled across Blanchardism when I was fourteen or fifteen. I'd never actually encountered transness and I wouldn't actually understand it for almost a decade from that point. But just encountering this kind of notion was enough to convinced me my desire to be a woman couldn't be real for years.
