WIN: We just scored a legal victory requiring the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to finalize Endangered Species Act protections for the critically imperiled Kern Canyon and relictual slender salamanders by December 2026.
More details below. ⬇️
Among California amphibians, the salamanders rank among the state's most vulnerable vertebrates because of their tiny range, loss of historical populations and susceptibility to climate-driven drying and wildfire.
“Our protected public lands are being gifted for the benefit of the world’s richest man, who could trash them while playing with his exploding rockets,” said @laikenjordahl.bsky.social, national public lands advocate at the Center for Biological Diversity.
The Center and our allies sued the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to stop a land trade that would hand 715 acres of the Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuge in south Texas to #SpaceX.
