Many more talks are lined up throughout the week. We're especially looking forward to the discussions with our participants. See you in Berlin!
This year we focus on what happens when that environment is itself reshaped by AI as the tools we reason with, and the information we reason about, and are increasingly machine-made. The theme: Decision Making in the Age of AI 🤖.
We also have two keynotes:
🔹Krishna Gummadi — Engineering the Psychology of Machine Judgment Under Uncertainty
Like humans, LLMs using tools must decide when to call them and how far to trust the output. Krishna shares frameworks—drawn from human judgment under uncertainty—to improve these calls.
🔹Renée DiResta (@noupside.bsky.social) — Invisible Rulers, Visible Costs: Propaganda, AI, and the Fight for a Shared Reality
The information environment is engineered, not neutral. Renée examines how algorithms and AI reshaped persuasion and the cost of defending research under attack.
🌞 The Summer Institute on Bounded Rationality @mpib-berlin.bsky.social returns next week.
At its core, we ask: how do minds make good decisions under genuine uncertainty by drawing on an adaptive toolbox of simple heuristics tuned to their environment?
