Yes!
One of the most interesting ideas discussed when the network architecture was being designed was giving the PDS a plugin architecture.
Ultimately, the PDS became a "dumb" data store and proxy, which simplified things greatly. But there's still a really interesting opportunity waiting here.

we should have “PDS extensions”, eg one-click to add a custom xrpc endpoint, a website running on top for custom direct control, or extra server stuff for apps (eg streamplace node, tangled knot, or a custom cron job)
it’d be cool to have the PDS really be the personal station for your internet
