The core feature of systems like OpenClaw is that they make it possible to run full coding agents asynchronously in the background with sufficient access to actually do things for you. For all the other features and the hype, we're basically just talking about what I'm calling 'agentic cron jobs'.

The world runs on cron jobs. A cron job runs a command on a computer on a schedule. Banks use cron jobs to settle transactions overnight via SFTP. Cron jobs renew TLS certs before they expire. It's the simplest idea in computing, and one of the most effective.
