Has the Atlantic overturning #AMOC shut down before? It very likely has, e.g. during Heinrich Event 4 around 40.000 years ago, in response to ice sliding into the Atlantic & diluting the water. Climate model simulations of this agree well with paleoclimate data. 🌊 1/3 www.nature.com/articles/s41...
