🧵 Central red thread in all of these frames is the master frame of ‘our people’, the ordinary Flemish citizens described as being threatened by rising criminality, unemployment, and the loss of their own identity. The economy, too, plays a key role in all subframes.
💻 Computer-assisted frame analysis identified five different morality subframes: populism, euroscepticism/separatism, nativism, authoritarianism and crimmigration.
In this 2022 paper, he looks into morality as part of the party manifesto of populist radical right party Vlaams Belang, relying on both a qualitative frame analysis and a quantitative word vector analysis. Some key findings:
