This study takes a more qualitative approach to better understanding how Black and Hispanic high school students make sense of STEM careers ✨in their own words✨ We explore explore how experiences related to both students’ racial/ethnic and gender backgrounds shape their STEM career beliefs.
In this paper, we consider:
💭 What motivational factors are most salient on Black & Hispanic high school students’ minds as they think about STEM careers?
To design effective interventions, we should be cautious to align our strategies with how students themselves think about their motivation!
