Countdown to #Botany2026 is on! Whether you are presenting research, exploring the Sonoran Desert on a field trip, diving into workshops, or reconnecting with your botanical community, this is going to be a meeting to remember. Prices go up after June 15, so register now! www.botanyconference.org
The National Science Foundation is terminating and suspending grants again, and at Grant Witness we need you to help to track them! 🧪 We can only identify research being suppressed by under-the-radar suspensions directly from researchers. Please report! grant-witness.us/posts/2026-0... #NSF
[new paper!] All-female, polyploid salamanders are weird: they have 3-4 sets of giant chromosomes, a mitochondria that doesn't match their nuclear genomes, and are made of fewer, bigger cells. We've thought about the consequences of this in lots of ways, stumbling on a neat one during my PhD..(1/n)
Shelly is an amazing scientist! Great opportunities at the interface of genomics and AI in this future lab!
This new work is now a pre-print: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6... Not only do the unisexuals have lower locomotor endurance, but they vary depending on which nuclear genomes they possess. Good example of undergraduate-led research, and a valuable connection to current lab projects. (4/4)
