Writer and film history researcher focusing especially on the silent/pre-Code eras (and the overlooked faces within). I talk a lot about Jean Harlow. linktr.ee/vitaphonezone

I was going to compliment Earl Luick on another great design here, but read the costumes for this scene were actually recycled from Kismet (1930), which could be true, but the film is lost so I couldn’t tell you
Happy William Wellman Wednesday (with a 1910 biplane on the set of 1938’s Technicolor Men With Wings)
Did some pageant research recently because I’m always looking for 1920s Miss California stuff, but getting into the 1960s and 1970s files was interesting because I got see the judges’ remarks. “Prominent teeth, hair part bad” is crazy
I like that the music in this scene is taken right out of a dance sequence from Flying High (1931), as the opening theme from Letty Lynton was already recycled for this film too. Even MGM liked to save money!
