“Without access to the COLLECT system, ICE/ERO’s ability to obtain timely, mission-critical information in support of immigration enforcement operations would be severely hindered.”
Heads up, Connecticut! ICE intends to issue a sole source contract to the CT Department of Emergency Services for access to the Connecticut On-Line Law Enforcement Communications Teleprocessing (COLLECT) System. From the sole source notice:
“Access to the COLLECT system for the ICE/ERO/Boston Field Office has been determined to be mission critical for the support of immigration enforcement actions.”
“The COLLECT system provides federal, state, and local agencies with the ability to research criminal records, perform background checks, and other research in support of conducting law enforcement operations in the State of Connecticut.”
Last week, the Trump admin announced yet another proposal for changes to work authorization regulations that would prevent many different classes of immigrants from getting work permits, including asylum seekers, humanitarian parolees, and people granted withholding of removal.
Yesterday, ICE announced plans to reopen a detention facility that has been closed since 2010. The Prairie Detention Facility is owned by private prison company CoreCivic. At capacity, the facility will hold 1,600 male and female detainees.
The proposal is available for public comment until 8/4/26, which you can do here: www.federalregister.gov/documents/20...
Salt Lake City and County file a joint lawsuit against ICE over their purchase and intent to convert a warehouse into a “mega center” capable of holding up to 7,500 detainees. This is now the 6th federal lawsuit against the facilities — representing more than half of the 11 ICE bought this year.
The escalation of ICE tactics in Baltimore, including staging outside of schools and now apprehending people on school property, is wholly unacceptable. Our thoughts are with the people now in ICE custody, and the little ones who had to witness this disturbing incident.
Watching the video, the officers at the end vocalize that not only are their body cams not on, they aren’t even wearing them. Awfully convenient, I’d say.
