Pretty blunt force crossing safety arrangement here: from a 2-lane crossing (general traffic + curbside bus lane) to a one-lane crossing with general traffic forced to merge (and yield) into the bus lane before the zebra.
It probably works well in low-traffic suburban streets like this one.
