Bill Kashatus is the author of over 20 history books, including the 2021 Indies Book of the Year “William Still: The Underground Railroad and the Angel at Philadelphia” and books about Dan Flood and Mary Jo Kopechne. But his wheelhouse is baseball history, with an emphasis on Pennsylvania stories. His latest is “Spitballer: Stan Coveleski and the 1920 Cleveland Indians,” published by the University of Nebraska Press. Coveleski, an anthracite breaker boy turned Hall of Fame pitcher from Shamokin, won three games for Cleveland in their 1920 World Series championship.
