Autumn Rail by indie developer Calamity Maid (that's my studio!) is a survival horror visual novel in the kinetic/NScripter style. When returning home from the grocer's one quiet evening, Tera is taken to Sylvan Station, a place you won’t find on any route or map.

In my heart, Autumn Rail still has a mouth full of Times New Roman.
Alas, what's in my heart isn't the same as what's on the game's Steam/JAST/itch.io store page.
It was, um. It was very late into development that I learned I couldn't use Times New Roman, at least not without forking out that aforementioned fee.
I would've loved to fork it out! I would've forked it the fuck out, if I could've! But I'm an indie dev. And this game had a budget of nothing!
With a week (yes, ONE) to go before launch, I had no choice but to find a decent-enough alternative. And... yeah, I think found that. Somehow. But...
Look. I will not lie. I still prefer the game with Times New Roman than without it. Times New Roman has teeth. I love the way it bites.
...have you checked out Autumn Rail?
(I should probably find another game to shill.)
Key #art time!
I am elated to unveil this—vivid, mesmeric, drop dead gorgeous—portrait of Tera Venger from AUTUMN RAIL, illustrated by none other than the visionary @gleamyguts.bsky.social !

It's #ScreenshotSaturday, so lemme show you what Autumn Rail WOULD have looked like had I kept Times New Roman as the in-game typeface.
Screenshots were taken of an earlier build and may not reflect the final product blah blah blah.
