Of course, if you ask this question to people in Manchester, the most common answer will be 'London' 😂 #LoveMCR
I stand by a comment I made last week. If Thermo want to be seen as taking this seriously, they should hold themselves to the same standards as their customers are. Anyone using this kind if 'optimisation' in a paper would be looking at a retraction for fraud.
Gastrophage...
So do a simple and right thing. Apologise. REMOVE those images where you don't have an unmanipulated original, then rerun your blots and generate a new unmanipulated image. It's not hard... 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Some of the manupulations that have been found are shocking. Doubling down does noone any favours.
I equally take exception to the 'adjusted for clarity' argument in general. Some of these have had bands copied, mirrored/rotated and repasted. That's not a 'tidy up to remove some background for presentation purposes'. It's cheating.
😲😲😲😲
This is REALLY bad of Thermo.
They've got caught, and their statement (in thread) smacks of a complete misunderstanding of of what they've done and disregard for their customers. What would happen if I submitted a paper with an image that had been "adjusted for presentaton purposes". Quite.
