Following a strategy that we have seen implemented after the Paris agreement as well, countries spent the following 3 conferences arguing on details and delaying implementation. COP6 discussion was suspended over the US refusal to accept any measure that would impact their emissions.

The Kyoto protocol is often depicted in political speeches as a blueprint of concrete climate action. While it did contain some tangible measures -- although too small to be impactful -- we often forget that the real work starts after such agreements, and not before.

I really enjoyed talking with Rachel Donald on my work documenting the origins and history of the @scientistrebellion.bsky.social movement and where it and the many other collective liberation movements that exist could go moving forwards, under increased reppression conditions we find ourselves in.
On Monday, scientists from @scientifiquesenrebellion.fr were on trial in Munich for a peaceful protest in 2022. Lauranne was acquitted, while Manua, Marceau, Hugo, Jerome & Sylvain were sentenced to hefty fines.
The people and companies responsible for the ongoing ecocide continue to escape justice.
