Swiss authorities have confirmed a case of #hantavirus identified in a passenger from the MV Hondius cruise ship.
He had responded to an email from the ship’s operator informing the passengers of the health event, and presented himself to a hospital in Zurich, Switzerland, and is receiving care.

Delighted to share the (preprint) output of @mhairijan.bsky.social's Oxford visit:
SARS-CoV-2 Neutralising Antibody Profiles Reveal Variant Specific Antibody Dynamics and Regional Differences in Infection Histories in Malawi. dx.doi.org/10.2139/ssrn...
Not all bat viruses spread the same way 🦇
A new study from @averyholmes.bsky.social & colleagues looked at six viruses in vampire bats in Peru & found contrasting patterns of circulation.

Researchers have uncovered clear differences in how viruses spread within the same wildlife host, challenging assumptions about how infection moves through animal populations.
Proud supervisor post! 😬🙌
Massive congratulations to @mhairijan.bsky.social for passing her viva. Her PhD was on characterising #SARSCoV2 neutralising ab responses in a rural & urban Malawian cohort. 🥳👏
Thanks also to Mafalda Viana & Giada Mattiuzzo for being fantastic examiners.
