In 2012, my husband & I got married in New York City—because marriage equality hadn't yet come to Florida and it didn't feel right to get married in a state that denied our friends that same right.
Ten years ago, 49 community members lost their lives at Pulse nightclub. They were not the first victims of violent bigotry, but together in solidarity we can mourn our loved ones and renew our commitment to building a future where every neighbor can live in safety and with humanity.

I've stood up for the LGBTQ+ community as a city council member, and I will continue to do so as Tampa's next mayor. Every Tampeño has a right to live with dignity—and I'll enact actual policy to protect that right from threats in Tallahassee, Washington, or anywhere else.
We're proud every year to put up our custom-made City of Tampa Pride Flag to show our support for anyone who is marginalized because of who they are or whom they love.
