More than that, Hadrian went on a massive commissioning spree to have statues produced and placed throughout the empire. Sculptors were often exclusively doing this work for months on end churning out. Here's one in the Vatican I took today.

In #Pride Month, here’s the Emperor Hadrian and his boyfriend, Antinous. The young man died in mysterious circumstances on a cruise on the Nile in 130AD. Hadrian, devastated by his death, deified him and then founded a city at his death site which became a cult centre.
