Would anyone be interested in being part of a panel for SRS next year that speaks to 'theories of history' #earlymodern
"We already live in a world where you walk outside and there are billboards and signs that are obvious AI slop. That’s become part of our visual reality. To me, generative AI feels less like innovation than a symptom of a broader cultural and economic rot."

I’m spending today in the deepest depths of following unfathomable bureaucratic processes that seem to be never-ending. Send cats!
Marketisation is a bad thing but we should be cautious of jumbling it in with a critique of making offers to applicants with non-traditional profiles, as it risks suggesting these students are the problem rather than the system.
Idk. I’ve known some people with no formal qualifications go on to complete PhDs. One went straight to MA having struggled to settle on two BAs & was admitted based on experience. Given how prescriptive compulsory education is post-Gove, A Levels can hinder curiosity, creativity & knowledge building
There obviously needs to be safeguards to ensure prospective students aren’t set up for a fall-a foundation year can be invaluable- but maybe some institutions are just catching up with the Open University? Offering opportunities to those who have previously been failed by a system isn’t a bad thing

With a record-breaking A24 directorial debut under his belt at age 20, Kane Parsons doesn't see a place for AI in Hollywood's future.
Looking ahead to what promises to be a landmark gathering next year. It's the *60th anniversary* of @srsrensoc.bsky.social , the conference is taking place at the @warburginstitute.bsky.social, and the theme is explicitly inviting us to move beyond limits... Cannot wait - spread widely!!!!!
