We all know that any new technology that comes to people has to change thier lives in a way that they probably could not imagine living without it. Also, unless they find a way for porn and free music to subsidizes this it will not get across the chasm.

Today would be a good day for impeachment
the AI rollout has easily the worst messaging of any technology I’ve ever seen it’s not even so much the underlying tech - a lot of people like the chatbots - but the continued promises that it’s going to ruin your life and there’s nothing you can do about it well - you can fight data centers

What do Americans know about AI? Very little, except that CEOs of the AI companies, and high profile proponents of AI, have gleefully promised to put them out of work. Data centers are just proxies for people's anger, because they are tangible.
