In an uncharacteristically poor bit of planning by the Victorians, London has some gigantic mainline stations serving basically nowhere of any relevance, and then there's Euston which is comparatively not that big and serves all of Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow
If you want to know why English spelling is the way it is, it's because for the past 1000 years any time the monarch made a spelling mistake, it was instantly redefined to be correct
This also was the case for French, and for some reason they never guillotined all of the extra letters off their words
