I'm not a snob about pop music, but Maeve's been going through a big Ariana Grande phase, and I have to say, compared to her peers, she makes the most anonymous, forgettable tracks. She's so technically proficient, but not a single one of these songs has managed to even get stuck in my head.
Steven Spielberg imagines a fantastical world where Missouri TV news and empathy can save us, confirming that Disclosure Day is in the DTF St. Louis-verse
I tried to get at this in my review, but this is a terrific piece about why WIDOW'S BAY is not only great but *feels* so different. And it's that you really have to pay attention to every frame to get the full experience. This is not ambient TV!
notes:
Jaws and Raiders are perfect movies;
Spielberg/Kushner is a GOAT artistic partnership — they need to do another;
Last Crusade is his funniest comedy (RIP Tom Stoppard!);
Catch Me is as messed up a Dad Movie as Fabelmans;
I don't love SPR, but it's got 4 or 5 set-pieces I'll never forget.
Fun! Ok, my (personal) Spielberg top ten:
1. Jaws
2. Raiders of the Lost Ark
3. Munich
4. Lincoln
5. Jurassic Park
6. Close Encounters of the Third Kind
7. The Last Crusade
8. Catch Me if You Can
9. The Fabelmans
10. Saving Private Ryan
