I remember when I first used GIMP and I complained about it when my friend dragged me to his LUG and they were like "THE POINT IS FOR MAKING FUNNY WEB GRAPHICS, NOT PROFESSIONAL ART" and honestly I don't even think it was good for that in 1999.

GIMP is objectively unintuitive and also can’t parse text layers of PSDs properly, it’s designed by FOSS people that have never created tools for professionals. Telling someone to use it for their job is like saying you can make a feature on iMovie. Technically true but not serious.

if you find GIMP hard to use you probably shouldn't be allowed to drive a car or shop at a grocery store. it's literally just buttons with pictures on them that do the things the pictures represent. you don't even need to be able to read.
