"The most painful moments were not the public attacks, but the silence of the people I thought would stand beside me." Meet our Beacons of Brew City: Reverend Janis K. Doleschal! (1/3)
“None of us are strong enough to stand out here alone. Not now, not then, not ever. Without sisterhood, we are nothing." Meet our Beacons of Brew City: Dynasty Scott! (1/3)
She founded the Milwaukee's first Black Pride festival, where she became not only the mother of an amazing experience, but countless young people seeking their chosen family. Today, there are several Black Pride orgs in Milwaukee, but Eloise was first -- and decades ahead of her time. (2/3)
As a transgender pioneer, celebrated drag titleholder, and talented entertainer, Dynasty Scott didn't just make a name for herself. Standing against widespread discrimination in white-owned bars, Dynasty helped to build a better Milwaukee where her Black sisters could thrive. (2/3)
For over 50 years, Jan has lived at the intersection of courage, conviction, and leadership. Whether on the playing field, in the pulpit, in the classroom, or in courtrooms, her life’s work has been defined by a commitment to justice, often in spaces where she was told she did not belong. (2/3)
"Everybody is here for a purpose, and I now know this was my purpose." Meet our Beacons of Brew City: Eloise McPike! Growing up, Eloise saw a real need to create safe spaces for Black LGBTQ people to come together, celebrate, and rise above the intolerance felt at white-owned gay bars. (1/3)
Meet Dynasty -- and hear her remarkable memoirs -- at our Documentary Premiere TUESDAY at Milwaukee's Oriental Theatre! #BeSeen 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ (3/3) www.facebook.com/events/20084...
