Most of my adult life has been this way. As a middle-aged, never-married childless man, touching another human is a rare, fleeting thing, counted in seconds and -halfs.
I notice every little shoulder pat, every brush-by, every accidental contact.
If I find the blessing of a partner again...
I'm not sure he believed me.
But it's true. There's days when my body aches from it. Extended lack has a feeling same as extended pressure - but it's invisible.
I ask for hugs from people when it's been days: and I've had people notice tension dissolve, if they give me more than a few seconds.
I almost ordered some drugs today, but instead went for prescription sunglasses.
I think it was the right move. Besides, I want the former now not next week.
