If Starmer wasn't already a lame duck, you'd be calling this a resignation matter. He's failed to adjudicate a conflict between MOD and HMT by going "I'm the PM and I've staked my reputation on defence: find the money" because he's a coward interpersonally, and politically (ie. won't raise taxes).

That's a bomb detonated under the government and more specifically under Starmer's (self-identified) legacy project and something he likes to point to as something he's proud of. Any attempt by Starmer to survive as leader even more DOA than it was this morning.
Really hope this comes with a scaled up Celtic Challenge - these are talented players and Scotland must start pulling its weight in developing the pro women's game
