It’s why I despise the response to any critique of “well if you don’t like it why are you consuming it”. Because I feel it has a right to exist, because my world is better for having consumed it whether I liked it or not, because engaging with things critically IS fun and genuinely good for you
I would add onto this that there’s also a lot of people who take being interested in art to mean you need to be a stuck-up, closed-minded snob about literally everything and that mindset is just actually toxic. It doesn’t make you more artistic or talented to dismiss shit. It makes you boring.
In my experience no, not really accurate. I don’t really know how others perceive at the moment but I try to leave enough open to interpretation that I view their version of my OCs as also kinda valid, too. Like how fan works of anything can be transformative of the characters, y’know?
