It may not be, but I'm hoping this is like the Circles concept that Google+ did years ago, where you can create spaces of specific people that you can solely post to them alone, making it easy to direct specific posts to groups instead of just everyone seeing em.

communities are coming to Bluesky this year.
today, Bluesky is one big space. communities will be smaller spaces inside that where you can go deeper and hang out with people who care about the same stuff.
