I must be in quite a small subset of people who have both read the book & seen the film-I read it for the Virginia Woolf Special Topic at Durham & can still feel the temperature in the seminar room plummeting when I said I liked William Rodney-& I continue to like him as played by Jack Whitehall!

Virginia Woolf’s Night & Day is a gorgeous, bittersweet film about astronomy, love, & wonder - it’s billed as an unromantic comedy & it IS funny but it also wrecked me from the moment Kit says to camera ‘next time Haley’s comet visits we’ll all be dead’ essentially for the rest of this tender treat
