spielberg has notably said that he "loved" obsession, and tbh i think he unironically has a lot to learn from curry barker. the writing was better, the camera work and scene lighting was more effective, and even the direction of talent seems to have been better.
maybe it's bc they're accustomed to shorter content, but the youtubers' horror movie lengths (under 110 mins) may have had some impact on the movies feeling more lean (good)
