one of my favorite recurring subplots in housing discourse is NIMBYs talking about any major dev project like it’s a form of settler colonialism and meanwhile actual indigenous people are like “we are going to build the biggest apartment buildings you have literally ever seen”
This is an excellent policy roadmap, especially at the Federal and State levels. Cities should get ahead of the ball as much as they can w/in their limited levers control (mostly land use reforms and tenant protections) and press State and Federal reps to get it together!

I feel it’s sort of underrated the extent to which a Dem Congress and/or states could (1) absolutely destroy car dealerships as a business, and (2) this would cripple a lot of GOP state and local parties
