Ms. Rachel: As the American Academy of Pediatrics says, there is no safe amount of time for a child to be in detention. The Dilley immigration detention center must be shut down. We need to end the cruel policies of family detention and family separation.
Posting as an avoidance/processing technique.
I'm exhausted.
I'm so behind at work (onboarding, Summer Reading, annual evals) that I'm forced to do some at home.
Personal projects are many, needed for mental health, but second to work.
Life maintenance is getting the shaft and causing guilt.
First "meeting" went okay and we'll do another next week.
We did a parallel walk, kept it to about 20 minutes, and never got closer than 30 feet.
Our girl showed remarkable restraint. A year ago she'd be totally flipping out, so this is encouraging.
Closer next time. :)

Crying after watching Fiona in the show Shameless get arrested and processed, because I'll be damned if they didn't capture the sense of humiliation and dehumanization that's baked into the process.
I'm an elder millennial, so it makes perfect sense that I may be in the midst of a mid-life crisis.
Only, this started about 18 years ago, so it's mostly been a life crisis.
Instead of buying a red sports car, I've been buying/scavenging 80s and 90s memorabilia. Basically the same.
Found potential places, so we scheduled a distanced meet and greet (parallel walking) for tomorrow.
I'm trying not to let my own anxiety get the better of me.
So far, it's the case that if our dog doesn't get along with Zeek, he'll be taken to a shelter/rescue, and they're overcrowded.
