Ever see Jamelle Bouie's animation of the trans-Atlantic slave trade? It's amazing and horrifying. He had his doubts later that maybe it tends to reduce the horrors to an abstraction (www.nytimes.com/2022/01/28/o...), but I think it is helpful in shocking the conscience.
