Or even, why not show up, cut the ribbon, and say to to Michigan residents and US citizens, “Look at this awesome bridge. It’s better and faster than what you currently have. Canada stands ready to make your life better. We’re just waiting on one guy.”

A good question: Why didn’t Mark Carney open the Gordie Howe bridge to one-way traffic from the US? That would have been an expression of Canadian strength.
