I'm pretty sure that's Gramercy Park, & if so Wemby is most likely sketching statue of Shakespearean actor Edwin Booth, which is notable for at least two reasons:
-Booth was older brother of none other than John Wilkes Booth
-The statue shows Edwin Booth as Hamlet, iconic tortured protagonist
