In 2000, Paul Thomas Anderson directed a pilot episode of The Jon Brion Show, a variety show that didn’t get picked up. Brion—who wrote the scores for Magnolia & Punch-Drunk Love—spent some of the show playing songs with Elliott Smith, including this gorgeous cover of John Lennon’s “Jealous Guy.”
