So much innocence already dying at the hands of grown men's rage. Just how much more rage can the world take? How can we protect children? And how can we protect LGBTQIA+ and Black brothers and sisters from harm, from bias, from misinformation, from violence, from trigger-happy egos?
I know this here is an LGBTQIA+-friendly platform. I know that this was an absolutely horrific case and the story is just heartbreaking. I can't even imagine how it must have been for that poor baby. And I'm anxious, wondering how society may well respond.

Maybe I'm wrong to say this. Maybe it's not my place. But I feel I should say it anyway. I'm scared of even more unfairness, that so many more innocents are going to pay a terrible price.
I can't even begin to understand what Preston Davey went through. But I am begging people not to use this terrible, terrible case to argue against gay people having children. Please don't. There are many bad people out there and I'm scared to think this case could be held up as 'one-size-fits-all.'
In the horrific case of Preston Davey, here is what I am begging people to remember:
Gay actor Charlie Condou who has two kids and coparents them with his husband and with the kids' mother. Gay actor BD Wong who included his son in his It Gets Better video and who co-parents him with his ex.
Maybe as a straight woman, it's not my place to say anything. But the world seems so much more hostile - there's riots, prejudice of all kinds, violence, misinformation. As proven by the last few years in the UK alone, it doesn't take much to stir up violence - any excuse to riot, to cause harm.
I've heard about Preston Davey on the radio and read about Kohan Wiley on my phone. Two innocent boys who died at the hands of grown men in positions of trust and protection: men who were apparently incapable of empathy, of thoughtfulness or calm. The world is so, so broken.
