We had an IRC that didn't have any secret porn stash and one time we trolled a guy over a dozen times with various "commands to get the secret porn" that were all just ways to quit IRC. It wasn't like nowadays, where it's just Nazis telling you to die.
Back in the nineties, trolling had artistic merit. I knew a guy who used to go into science Usenet and reply to scientists asking for advice with "Put it in a Mason jar and shake it up." And then get into elaborate arguments with those who replied earnestly to explain why this would not work.
The practical effect of the Platner nomination is that the Democrats should redouble their efforts in all of the other more winnable Senate races now, just hunker down for whatever's coming next about Platner, and try not to let the fallout hit other Dem races.
