The next Mostly Folk event is Friday 3rd July.
The Owl Service... Dorothy Chappell, Rebecca Leivers, and Steven Paul Collins
Essex-based alternative folk collective who have been fusing traditional British song with bold instrumentation for the past 20 years.
I’ll be joined by David Tomlins to play at 12 on Sunday, part of Treebourne’s day of music and nature.
It’s being held at Sevenoaks Rec, home to the woodland they planted in 2021.
Treebourne have planted 10,000 trees on this site alone and many more around the town, I think 39,000 so far.💚
Working on the long man yesterday with James Neal and his team.
So lucky with the weather 🌞

Had the best of times in Whitby.
With thanks to The Hand of Glory Folklore Festival, Flash Company Arts and Debbie Armour for having Sophia Kingshill and me along to this beautifully created event 🙏
Loved watching all, including maypole dancing, with singers led by Rebecca Denniff ✨

The first is June 5th with Andrew Rumsey… ‘Hushed, haunted and shiver-inducing’ (The Guardian)
As it’s St George’s Day I thought I’d share a local dragon legend… Jacqueline Simpson (The Folklore of Sussex) tells the story of the Lyminster knucker.
I went to Lyminster a number of years ago to try and find the knuckerhole. The illuminated stained glass window is situated inside St Mary’s.
Atlantis Bookshop for Jeremy Harte’s book launch… Treasures on Earth, Buried Wealth in Landscape and Legend.
‘Jeremy Harte is one of Britain’s leading folklorists…. this book is a treat for readers at any level of knowledge’ (Ronald Hutton)
Last Sunday’s Spring singing walk in Friston Forest was a beauty ✨
Tonight at The The Vinyl Frontier in Eastbourne is Attila The Stockbroker. Tickets all gone but there should be a little space. We’re very lucky to have him. Come along. Donations to We Shall Overcome.
