Yesterday my 14yo told us she wants to rewrite her English coursework because the school’s AI checker gave it an 80% score (ie 4 in 5 chance it was written using GenAI). It definitely wasn’t. Another way AI is fucking over the kids. I hate it so much.
Glad to see this from the FT, but many have been raising this for a long time and it's been disregarded as a sort of digital nimbyism or patronised as pearl-clutching panic. Labour needs a decent tech strategy and Blair and Mandelson's influence on policy needs to end with the change in leadership
This is such an important point: we rightly bemoan the ‘corporatization’ of higher ed but the irony is that many of the corporate managerial practices being imposed on us were discredited and abandoned by for-profit corporations long ago.
