This was a cool realization during today’s e-bike commute. At least 3 or 4 times I noticed that I was physically standing on a site I’ve long appreciated, that previously I had only driven by. That felt great.

Day 3! Another great ride home from City Hall tonight on my E-Bike Commuter Challenge. Today’s realization: the strange balance between hyper-focus externally (for self-preservation) which also seems to prompt a parallel internal hyper-focus, too. Good problem-solving time.
So it’s a bumpy ride at times (hard seat = ouch), and my focus needs to be sharp, but it’s so relaxing to be crossing the city while outdoors. And the view can be fantastic! 2/

No videos of my Day 3 commute to City Hall today, but it was 43 minutes end to end. Sometimes my car drive is about that long, especially mid-week with RTO. Twice this morning there were road construction projects that caused lengthy stoppages for car traffic. Cyclists just zoomed on by. 🚴 🚴♀️ 🚴♂️
Day 2 of my E-Bike Commute Challenge. An early ride downtown this morning to make it to the Ottawa Board of Trade Defence Forum event, with its 8am start time! Had to pack dress clothes and shower supplies in my saddle bag! 1/

Finally, getting work on a bike is just a wonderful way to enjoy the beauty and charm of our lovely city. Glad to have made the journey. Wish me a safe ride home at the end of another long day as Councillor!
Even though it takes me a little while longer to get from home to work, it’s quite nice to not have to be stuck in slow-moving traffic, as is often the experience when I’m driving to work in my car. Not today, not for me. For these other folks…stuck. 3/
