Equally uninformed about music, art and science but likely to post on any regardless. ECM nerd and Gerhard Richter obsessive. If I'm playing music: yes, it's supposed to sound like that.

The Abdullah Ibrahim LPs will be lined up for later, but right now just needed to give this one an airing. Some of their best work on here, imo. #NowPlaying
Bachrooms.
RIP to a legend.
"Implementation is key". Say, live full-time biometrics to keep tabs on who's watching what, and when, for how long, and who can we sell this to (oops, said the quiet bit out loud)

From one of the many PR emails I'm getting about the government social media ban. Obviously this is from someone selling this technology. But stop to think about just how utterly dystopian this is: *constant* video surveillance of all online activity, for everyone.
Exactly. Wanna do something about harmful social media? Change the law so the platform's owners are classed as publishers, and become responsible for harmful / unlawful / slanderous/ offensive content. Same standards you'd apply to any print publisher. And enforce it with hefty fines.

Prohibition has never worked. We already know that very high numbers of under 16s in Australia continue to access social media notwithstanding the 'ban'. The same will happen in the UK. All a ban does is given the impression of having 'done something' while ignoring the actual issues.
