Indoor Air 2026. María Sol Montaluisa-Mantilla. Micro-organisms in the roots of plants are the primary means to remove VOCs compared to the stem and leaves.
Indoor Air 2026. Chien-Cheng Jung. Examined microplastics removed by air cleaners. Air cleaner use didn't change the morphology of remaining microplastics.
Indoor Air 2026: Yik Chirt Teoh Modeled portable air cleaner placement in a neonatal room. The overall particle reduction ranges from 40-60%. The best location was the center of the room. Interesting, placing the air cleaner under a table did not degrade the performance.

Indoor Air 2026: Mark Mendell (Part 2) Peak observed CO2 is often used to indicate ventilation. Often incorrectly, especially -if steady state is not reached. -if occupancy or activities vary (single number for all spaces is incorrect). Need simple mass balance approach (Persily 2022 paper)
Indoor Air 2026: Rebecca Mesburis. GUV222 produces ozone indoors. Can you combine it with ozone removal for effective chemistry control? Ozone removal effective and reduces SOA formation when GUV222 is on. Catalyst degradation was 20% over six months.
Indoor Air 2026. Niko Siilin Integration of direct air capture can be combined with HVAC systems. Direct air device captures the CO2 and HO2 allowing more recycling air indoors. Reduces energy consumption.
Indoor Air 2026: K Kuga CO2 is reliable metric when the concern is ventilation and/or rebreathed fraction. For disease transmission CO2 is relevant for small droplet transmission, but not necessarily for large droplets (> 5 microns). Not a great tool for short range infection risk.

Indoor Air 2026. Frederic Thevenet Hydrogen sulfide can be an issue in oceanside communities where seaweed degrades causing indoor air issues. H2S is not soluble in water, not susceptible to photo degradation, moderately sorbs to activated carbon. Chemisorption worked best.
