Excited for what's ahead and looking forward to meeting everyone again.
I’m all for accessibility in how things are printed. Easier to read fonts, text size options, all good.
But any attempt to standardize writing *style* is anti-creative. Creative writing isn’t about how quickly you absorb it or how easy it is. If it were, Dickens and Faulkner would be banned.
I think it's fitting to leave such an event with a rooted feeling of how important and valuable community can be.
It still baffles me how incredibly privileged I am for having been able to take part in such an event, and I have extensive plants for making the most out of that privilege.
Still on a conference high from Folklore on the Move, the @folkloresociety.bsky.social annual conference. I doubt it'll fade away quickly since I'm going home with so many ideas, inspired by so much learning and, above all, having listened to and met such incredibly intelligent, and embracing people
