Honestly, people should be angrier about this.
There are *notably* more disabled people since Covid. Social security *should* be a higher proportion of GDP.
Why is no one angrier that the UK’s wages are so shit that 1/3 of UC claimants are living in working poverty?

Half of UK welfare is pensions, 1 in 3 people on Universal Credit are in work, disabled people are disabled, more of them since Covid hit, but the welfare bill as % of GDP is stable (lower than most developed countries) and is forecast to stay stable and below OECD average for the next 5 years.
